Renowned TV chef Michael Chiarello has passed away at the age of 61 due to a severe allergic reaction.

Chiarello, known for his culinary expertise, served as a judge on Bravo's Top Chef and Top Chef Masters. He was a frequent guest on shows like the Today Show and The View. His Emmy-winning show, Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello, added to his culinary acclaim.

Tragically, he succumbed to an acute allergic reaction that led to anaphylactic shock while undergoing treatment in the hospital. His grieving family released a statement, saying, "We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael. His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being. He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table."


They went on to express their cherished moments with him and how his legacy will continue through the love he poured into his dishes and the passion he inspired for savoring life's flavors.

Chiarello's culinary journey was marked by significant accolades, including being named Food & Wine Magazine's Chef of the Year Award in 1985, just three years after graduating from the Culinary Institute of America. In 2013, Esquire magazine also honored him with the same title.

Prior to his passing, Chiarello managed several restaurants and authored a series of successful cookbooks. He resided in Napa Valley with his wife and children, living among his vineyards.

Born in 1962 in Turlock, California, Chiarello's passion for cooking emerged in his youth. He had a deep appreciation for classic Italian cuisine and often assisted his mother in the kitchen. Remarkably, he secured his first restaurant apprenticeship at the tender age of 14.

In 2016, Chiarello faced allegations of sexual harassment by two former employees. He vehemently denied all claims, and both lawsuits were resolved the following year. Subsequently, Chiarello largely withdrew from the public eye.
