Beyoncé's concert film, Renaissance, experienced a significant decline in its second weekend at the box office. While it dominated during its opening weekend, the tour documentary is anticipated to drop over 77% from its initial peak in its second frame.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the film helmed, written, and produced by Queen Bey slid from the top spot to a seemingly shared fifth place with Disney's animated film "Wish," earning an estimated $5 million; the final figures might edge closer to $5.5 million upon the release of complete numbers on Monday morning.

There was a rapid and significant decline from the movie's $21 million debut last weekend, which marked the first film in 20 years to open with over $20 million during the typically sluggish post-Thanksgiving period, without adjusting for inflation.

According to THR, the substantial drop in the second week suggests the movie is frontloaded and is relying primarily on superfans, similar to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour film, as the Beyoncé movie only had screenings from Thursday to Sunday.

Swift's Eras film surpassed $92 million in its initial run, eventually reaching over $250 million in global earnings. The two superstars have shown mutual support, with Swift recently attending the Renaissance premiere in London. Sunday (Dec. 10) marked the final day of Renaissance in theaters.

During its second run, the film faced tougher competition, notably from "The Boy and the Heron," the latest animated masterpiece by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. This Studio Ghibli production made history by securing a record-breaking $12.8 million opening, becoming the first anime title ever to premiere at the top of the North American box office chart.

The projected earnings for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes were anticipated to secure the second spot with an estimated $9-$10 million. Following closely were Godzilla Minus One and the third installment, Trolls Band Together, featuring Justin Timberlake.
