Nick Candy who is the treasurer of Reform UK has recently announced that the party is poised to receive donations from several billionaires which also include billionaire Elon Musk, reported The Guardian.

According to The Guardian, Nick Candy stated that this influx of funding will eventually facilitate ‘political disruption like we have never seen before’ with plans to outpace other political parties in grassroots campaigning, data and polling efforts. During a pretty recent meeting at the Mar-a-Lago resort of US President- elect Donald Trump, Nick Candy and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage together discussed about potential financial support from Elon Musk who would be the first of many wealthy donors allowed to contribute legally.

Nick Candy expressed his confidence that Reform UK would surpass the Conservative Party in membership within three months while putting an emphasis on the conservative values of the party. The current UK electoral rules require foreign donations to be funneled through the UK based businesses which might complicate the potential contributions of Elon Musk, asserted The Guardian.

At the same time, the head of the Electoral Commission has eventually called for stricter regulations to prevent foreign interference in UK politics, noted The Guardian. While on one hand, Labour MP Lucy Powell indicated that there are no immediate plans to alter donation laws, on the other hand, Conservative minister Kevin Hollinrake eventually suggested that he would prefer Elon Musk to support the Conservative Party instead of Reform UK.
