'Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire': Know about release date, cast and plot

After the success of his movie Army of the Dead - Zack Snyder and Netflix have decided to join hands for 'Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire'.

In keeping with its trend of releasing movies around Christmas, Netflix has decided to release the Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire on December 22, 2023. Earlier too Netflix has released hits such as Don't Look Up, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Bird Box, and 6 Underground during the holiday season.

It has also been revealed that there will be a limited theatrical release for 'Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire' on December 15, 2023. These 70mm screenings will be across four cities only -- Los Angeles, New York City, Toronto, and London.


Rebel Moon is an epic science fantasy that is set in a peaceful colony on the border of a faraway galaxy. The colony which was peace-loving faces an existential threat from the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. The colony residents in an attempt to repel this threat decide to send a young female dispatch rider named Kora, who has a checkered past to solicit the help of different warriors from neighboring planets.

Netflix had on November 12, released the full trailer of the Rebel Moon.


The movie has Sofia Boutella who plays the role of Kora, Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins will be playing the voice of Jimmy, a JC1435 sentient mechanized robot. Others include Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Staz Nair and others.

Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire was initially intended to be a Star Wars movie but it did not happen. Snyder then had a deal with Deborah Snyder’s production company Stone Quarry and Netflix for Rebel Moon.

The movie commenced shooting in April 2022 and it was wrapped up in December 2022 and most of the film was shot in California. The film will be produced by Zack Snyder along with Deborah Snyder and Eric Newman for his company Grand Electric.
