Real Madrid survived a valiant comeback from Chelsea in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish football club managed to defeat the European champion with an aggregate score of 5-4.

Before the second leg game on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid was sitting comfortably after bagging a lead of 3-1 over Chelsea in the first leg. However, Chelsea made a brilliant comeback in the second leg, taking a 3-0 lead over Madrid at one point of time in the match. For Chelsea, Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger, and Timo Werner netted one goal each. Just when Chelsea was looking to go through to the semifinals with an aggregate score of 4-3, Luka Modric brought Real Madrid back into the game with a stunning pass converted to a goal by Rodrygo.

As the match went into extra time with an aggregate score of 4-4, it was Karim Benzema again who scripted the win for Real Madrid. He netted the decisive goal with a header and took Real Madrid to the semifinals. Although the Spanish club conceded defeat in the second leg with a score of 3-2, it saw off Chelsea's comeback with 5-4 on aggregate. Madrid had taken a lead of 3-1 in the first leg, thanks to Karim Benzema's hat-trick at Stamford Bridge.

After the match, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said that the match was a "suffering" for him. Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel praised the valiant effort of the team and said that there were no "regrets" and he was "proud" of Chelsea players as they "deserved to qualify." Tuchel was also given a yellow card in the match for protesting the referee.

Now, Real Madrid will face either Manchester City or Atletico Madrid in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. Notably, Real Madrid has won the UEFA Champions League 13 times.
