As a result of Karim Benzema’s extra-time goal, Real Madrid came back to win against Sevilla by a margin of 3-2 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Sunday. Real Madrid emerged as the winner and edged closer to its 35th La Liga victory.

Just 21 minutes into the game, Sevilla went ahead due to the fortunate free-kick scored by Ivan Rakiti, which slid through Madrid’s defence.

Just four minutes later, Thibaut Courtois, Madrid's goalkeeper was unable to clear the ball, allowing Sevilla to score with a strike from Erik Lamela- who was able to capitalize on a deflection to score.

With the score 2-0 in favour of Sevilla entering the second half, Madrid’s star forward Benzema cleared an attempt from the host.

In the 50th minute, Los Blancos broke through when Rodrygo, the substitute, finally broke the deadlock.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) disallowed a goal made by Vinícius Jr for handball, but Madrid managed to level with a fantastic finish thanks to Nacho Fernández. The goal came in the 82nd minute from a Carvajal pass.

Just when the match was closing for a draw, a magical late game moment occurred from Madrid.

The 92nd minute saw Benzema pass the ball to Rodrygo, having driven along the right-hand side of the box and returning it back to the Frenchman who handled it. He smashed the ball through the four Sevilla defenders to seal Real’s comeback, after two touches.

The goal was Benzema’s 25th of the season. It was also his 39th in a total of 39 games this year.

On April 12th, his 96-minute goal against Chelsea propelled Madrid into the semifinals of the Champions League. This is his second late game-winning goal in the past week.
