The billionaire financier Ray Dalio, who is credited with foreseeing the global financial disaster, has voiced worries about the outcome of the US election and how it would affect democracy. In an interview with the BBC, Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, the largest hedge fund in the world, expressed his concerns about the approaching November 4th election, as per the reports of Yahoo news.

Dalio emphasized that the election may cause instability in the United States, particularly if the losing party contests the outcome. He made the suggestion that if Donald Trump and the Republicans lose, this scenario might occur more frequently. He cautioned that there is limited possibility for compromise because both political parties are committed to winning at all costs. Dalio claims that this is his biggest worry for the nation's democracy's future.

Internal migration driven by values

Dalio noted that he anticipates a rise in internal migration in the United States due to people moving away due to moral, political, and economic disagreements, regardless of the outcome of the election. He mentioned states like California, New York, and New Jersey, whose citizens would go to Florida and Texas because of the disparities in values and taxation between those states and Florida. He clarified that the reason behind these movements is the difference in ideals between these states.

Dalio highlighted comparisons between historical occurrences and the contemporary state of affairs in the United States, drawing comparisons between 1930 and 1945. Economic problems of the time caused democratic institutions to fall apart in nations like Germany, Italy, Spain, and Japan, opening the door for dictatorships. He thinks that, with contemporary iterations of extreme left and right ideologies, comparable political divisions are still visible today.
