Rapper Killer Mike arrested at Grammys; released later

Rapper Killer Mike found himself in handcuffs and under arrest for misdemeanor battery at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Despite the unexpected turn of events, he was later released by police, confirmed by his lawyer, who assured that Killer Mike would continue to celebrate his triumphant night.

The arrest was captured by Hollywood Reporter writer Chris Gardner, who shared videos of Killer Mike being escorted out of Crypto.com Arena by LAPD officers. This occurred after the rapper had already secured three Grammy wins during the pre-televised segment of the ceremony.

Killer Mike's victories came in all three categories he was nominated for: best rap song and best rap performance for his track "Scientists & Engineers," and best rap album for "Michael," his latest studio release. The song, featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, triumphed over stiff competition in the rap performance and rap song categories.


This Grammy success marked a significant moment for Killer Mike, as it was his first win since 2003 when he was honored for his feature on OutKast's "The Whole World." Despite the initial setback of his arrest, Killer Mike's achievements shone brightly on this memorable night in the music industry.

Receiving his awards, the 48-year-old said: "This is for all the people who think you're too old to rap... we keep hip-hop alive. Never ever stop doing what you do."

Eyewitnesses at the arena reportedly heard someone shouting "free Mike" as the rapper was led away.
