Eminem has released the first song of his new album. In the first song, he is seen to be targeting Meghan Thee Stallion by making light of the shooting incident involving the rapper.

The lyrics that were released, read in the following manner: “If I was to ask Meghan Thee/Stallion if she would collab with me /Would I really have a shot at a feat? /I don’t know but I am glad to be.”
What is the criticism?
Many took to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) to express their outrage at the lyrics which were deemed to be inappropriate and insensitive.One critic wrote asking if it was too tough to respect black women. He contended that it had become a practice to disrespect black women. He added asking if it was too much to stop Eminem from making light of an incident in which Meghan was a victim of gun violence. He even pointed out that this is the black music month.
Another user alluded to the fact that this could be a publicity stunt. He pointed out that Eminem was dropping an album after more than 20 years and no one was speaking about the singer until he dropped references to Meghan before people took notice of the singer and his album.
Sowmya Krishnamurthy who is a music journalist slammed Eminem and said that he was “out of touch” and pointed out that the singer had largely built his career on being shocking and making provocative statements to certain audiences.

Singer Finds supportSome fans continued to support the singer. They pointed out that the singer had previously made references to many people and this was nothing new for him. Many felt that the singer was being unfairly targeted.
Another fan pointed out that Meghan too had taken a shot at Mariah Carey’s diss track earlier. She had rapped “I feel like Mariah Carey/ Got these n-s so obsessed.
