Rafael Nadal, who has won the Grand Slam 22-times, has lost to Tommy Paul. Paul recently bagged his highest ATP rank of number 28 in September 2022. The game started with Nadal taking the lead, eventually losing the game to the American 3-6, 7-6(4) 6-1, respectively.
What was the reason for his loss?
In a candid interview, Nadal said, “I am always eager to play, even though the last couple of months have been hard for me. I was not able to spend much of my days on Tour in the last 5 months, let alone competing; I was not even able to practice tennis on the court, and that’s what I need,” he added.
In the following interview, Nadal admitted that he was off the court for far too long and is certainly out of shape for the ATP Finals. He played his last match, the US Open fourth round in September, and took a small break to take care of his new born first child.
