Fisher started off on the stage, with her first performance in 1973 in the Broadway musical Irene, alongside her mother Debbie. Her first movie role was in Shampoo in 1975. In 1977, she became famous after playing Princess Leia in Star Wars: A New Hope. The movie was a huge success and made her a global star. She returned as Princess Leia in later Star Wars films.
