Putin’s close aide Medvedev says Trump can forget about ‘corrupt’ Nobel Peace Prize after strikes on Iran, asks ‘what have Americans achieved’
Following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, Russia's Dmitry Medvedev criticized the move, questioning its effectiveness and warning of a potential new conflict. Iran's Foreign Minister announced a meeting with Putin in Moscow, condemning the...

Following the US strikes, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran confirmed that attacks took place on its Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz sites. Criticizing the US President’s decision to strike Iran, Medvedev said that Donald Trump, who came as a peacemaker president, has started a new war for the US.
The remarks from the Russian politician came after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant suffered minimal damage in the US airstrikes, as claimed by multiple agencies. The agency had claimed that there was no increase in off-site radiation levels reported at Fordow as of June 22, 2025.
Medvedev also said that with its strikes on Iran’s nuclear facility, Washington is drawn into a new conflict with the prospect of a ground operation. He further stated that several countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their nuclear arsenal.
Taking a swipe at Trump, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council said, “With such "successes," Trump can forget about the Nobel Peace Prize, despite the corrupt nature of that award. A great start, congratulations, Mr. President!”.
He further stated that despite Washington’s strikes in Iran, the country’s political regime remains intact and has become stronger, and the vast majority of countries worldwide oppose the actions of Israel and the U.S.
Iran's top diplomat says he'll meet Putin in Moscow
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, responding to a question from a Russian outlet, said he’ll travel to Moscow later on Sunday, June 22, 2025, to meet with President Vladimir Putin after the U.S. struck Iranian nuclear sites.
“We enjoy a strategic partnership and we always consult with each other and coordinate our positions,” he said, referring to Russia. Iran's foreign minister says diplomacy not an option after US strikes.
“The warmongering, a lawless administration in Washington, is solely and fully responsible for the dangerous consequences and far-reaching implications of its act of aggression,” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a news briefing at a conference in Turkey.
The strikes from Washington came more than a week after strikes by Israel on Iran that have moved to systematically eradicate the country’s air defenses and offensive missile capabilities while damaging its nuclear enrichment facilities.
