Barcelona's players are dejected at the end of the Champions League opening phase soccer match between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain.
Champions League fans were treated to an absolute thriller between defending champion Paris St. Germain (PSG) and Barcelona, with the French football club bagging a victory with a late goal. Goncalo Ramos struck a 90th-minute winner as PSG stunned the Spanish club and defeated them 2-1 on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain.

PSG justified its champion status and won the Champions League encounter against Barcelona without its star trio of forwards, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. With this victory, the French giant has won two from two in its title defense.

Barcelona opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Marcus Rashford delivered a precise pass across the box to Ferran Torres, who slid in to beat the offside trap and slot past PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.

Despite trailing and being rocked by a raft of injuries, PSG came from behind and equalized in the 38th minute when Nuno Mendes embarked on a dazzling run down the left, beating three defenders before setting up 19-year-old Senny Mayulu, who finished clinically into the bottom corner.

Some serious action unfolded in the last 10-15 minutes of the second half before the full-time whistle. Substitute Lee Kang-in hit the post with a shot from the edge of the box in the 83rd minute. With the match heading towards a 1-1 draw, PSG scored a deserved winner from a quick counter in the 90th, with Achraf Hakimi crossing for substitute Goncalo Ramos to fire home from close range.
