Project 2025: Can it be Trump’s ‘Taylor Swift Nightmare’?

While many of the national surveys indicate that former US President Donald Trump and Republican Party Presidential nominee is ahead of his counterpart from the Democratic Party, not all is good with Trump. While the Republican party is aggressively campaigning, it may soon have to face its ‘Taylor Swift Nightmare’. Incumbent President Joe Biden who is on the backfoot with many of his own party members calling for his replacement, attacked Trump while addressing his supporters in Michigan. The party is planning to counter Trump and mount a counter attack that can push Trump and his team on the backfoot. There are many challenges that can be exploited.

Project 2025:

Biden launched a blistering attack on Trump and ridiculed the 900-page-document called Project 2025. Though, Trump had earlier distanced himself from this document, Biden attributed it to the former President and his followers. He said that this document was against the American way of life and sought strict controls which would upset the federal structure, civil rights and the quality of life of all Americans. He added that many of Trump’s former officials and supporters had prepared the document which provides a roadmap into Trump’s third term in office.

Trump had earlier distanced himself from this document which among others, seeks to re-structure the federal workforce, curb the rights of the members of the LGBTQIA community as well as enhance strict border protection system to curb illegal immigration.

Analysts point out that that the mere fact he has distanced himself from the document indicates that he does want to seek any sort of ownership of this document which is being largely criticized. Vice-President Kamala Harris too had attacked Trump and said that he would use the Department of Justice to target his political opponents, once in power.

This has the potential to be used politically to corner Trump and make him appear autocratic before the voters.
