Former WCW wrestling icon Marcus “Buff” Bagwell has undergone an above-the-knee leg amputation following ongoing complications stemming from a serious car crash in 2020. The news was confirmed by Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers, who shared the update on Facebook, praising Bagwell’s resilience and legacy in the wrestling world.

Bagwell, 55, had spent the last few years undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments in an effort to avoid amputation. However, lingering injuries and complications from the crash ultimately made the procedure necessary.

Why was Buff Bagwell’s leg amputated?

Buff Bagwell underwent a leg amputation due to severe complications stemming from a car crash in August 2020. The accident occurred in Cobb County, Georgia, when he lost control of his vehicle, which crashed through a fence and into a public restroom.

The crash left him with serious injuries that required multiple surgeries and years of rehabilitation. Despite extensive medical efforts to save the leg, worsening complications eventually made amputation the only viable option.
