Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum, was on a business trip overseas when his wife, Kristin Cabot, was caught in a “kiss cam” scandal at a Coldplay concert. Andrew was traveling in Japan for work and returned home just after the scandal broke out.

The insider said, “Andrew was in Asia for a few weeks and returned on Saturday, so he was gone while all this went down. Poor guy.” Privateer Rum and Andrew Cabot did not respond to requests for comment. When The Post called the company, their voicemail was full.

Couple’s marriage faced issues behind the scenes

Kristin and Andrew married after her previous divorce was finalized in 2022. Before the concert video went viral, there was no sign of trouble in their marriage. The insider revealed the family now says the couple has been having marriage problems for several months and were thinking about separating. This was surprising because only a month ago, they appeared very in love, as per the New York Times report.

The Post first reported that Kristin Cabot’s maiden name is Stanek. The couple bought a $2.2 million mansion in Rye, New Hampshire, just five months before the scandal. In May 2024, the Cabots posted a happy family photo on Facebook, smiling with wedding rings and two young kids.

Andrew Cabot comes from one of Boston’s oldest and richest families, known as the “Boston Brahmin” clans who have long influenced New England. Privateer Rum’s website notes Andrew’s ancestor, the original Andrew Cabot (1750-1791), was a merchant, rum distiller, and American privateer during the Revolution, as per the report by New York Times.

Privateer Rum’s brand sells high-end rum bottles, some costing over $100, emphasizing authentic ingredients and “Made in the USA.” Their ads stress “transparency, honesty, and purity.” Kristin Cabot’s LinkedIn, now deleted, showed she was an advisory board member at Privateer Rum since September 2020, as per the reports.

Coldplay concert clip goes viral

At the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium, Kristin was caught on the jumbotron “kiss cam” canoodling with Andy Byron, the now-former CEO of New York software company Astronomer. Kristin works as the head of HR at Astronomer. Both tried to avoid the camera, leading Coldplay’s singer Chris Martin to joke, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

After the incident, Astronomer put both Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron on leave while they investigated. Byron resigned by last Saturday. Astronomer’s co-founder Pete DeJoy became interim CEO. Kristin Cabot has not been fired and remains on leave at Astronomer, according to the report by New York Times.
