In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing dispute over the Royal Lodge, Prince William reportedly warned Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie that their royal titles could be at risk unless their father, Prince Andrew, vacated the Windsor estate.

On an episode of the News Agents podcast, journalist Emily Maitlis, who famously interviewed Prince Andrew for BBC’s Newsnight in 2019, revealed that she had heard of a purported meeting between Prince William and the princesses, during which he allegedly told them, “You guys have got to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge; otherwise, we will start reexamining the state of your own titles.”

Maitlis continued, “There was a bit of pressure, we understand, being put on the princesses to tell their dad, ‘This is gonna happen.'”

She added, “You can see why Prince Andrew, as a father, would want to keep his daughters happy and keep their titles in place, come what may.”

Maitlis further claimed that King Charles III had planned to visit Royal Lodge to “read the riot act to his brother.”

However, she said that the meeting never took place because “the palace got very nervous” amid the intense media attention, leading them to “cancel the whole thing.”

The Sun reported that no such meeting between William and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie actually occurred, with a source emphasizing that the 43-year-old heir to the throne does not have the authority to revoke their royal titles.

Andrew is reportedly resisting efforts to vacate Royal Lodge, insisting on alternative accommodations: he has requested Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, while his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, reportedly hopes to move into Adelaide Cottage once William and Kate Middleton leave next month.

“Andy is willing to leave, but these are his conditions,” a friend of Andrew and Ferguson told The Sun. “He’s realistic and understands that his time at Royal Lodge is coming to an end.”

The report noted that King Charles III has long wanted the former couple to vacate Royal Lodge, where Andrew has not paid rent during his 21 years of residence.

The situation is further complicated by the ongoing controversy surrounding Andrew’s past connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, raising the stakes higher than ever.
