Presley Gerber Death: Who is Reza Nabavi? Owner of ‘rehab’ where Cindy Crawford’s son died of suspected overdose has a criminal past involving drugs

Fresh developments have emerged in the death of Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, with details surfacing about the owner of the ‘rehab’ where he died of a suspected overdose. According to Page Six, Reza Nabavi was once denied a psychology license over his criminal past involving drugs and a minor. Nabavi opened the halfway house Resolutions Living (RL) in Santa Monica, California, in 2013, where Presley died on Sunday (September 20, 2026).

Presley’s body was reportedly found in a bedroom inside the Santa Monica sober living home where he died. In his report, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner indicated that he died in a rehabilitation facility. His autopsy was completed, but the official cause of death remains deferred. His body was discovered near the bed, and sources told TMZ that it was not on the bed. However, the exact location of the body was not clear at the time of filing of this report.

Reza Nabavi’s arrest and jail sentence

Page Six reported that Nabavi, 50, was arrested after Oakland Police Department officers found him asleep in a car in an area known for “frequent narcotic and prostitution activity.” The arrest took place in February 2002. Nabavi was reportedly with a 15-year-old girl, who told responding officers she did not know him very well and was under the influence of methamphetamine, Page Six reported, citing official documents. Police conducted a search of Nabavi’s vehicle and found meth, marijuana, a hunting knife, a handgun, and ammunition.

Nabavi was again sentenced to three years in prison in May 2002 after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. Later in the same month, he was arrested again for possessing narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia after getting caught agreeing to sell meth to an informant. Following a search, officers claimed that they found meth, a glass meth pipe, and marijuana.

Nabavi obtained Ph.D. in 2004, denied psychology license

In 2004, two years after arrest and jail sentence, Nabavi obtained his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. In the same year he was denied a psychology license after he submitted to the California Board of Psychology an application for registration as a psychologist. The application was denied later that month due to the conviction of a crime, the conviction of a crime substantially related to the qualifications and practice of a psychologist, the use of a controlled substance and unprofessional conduct, Page Six reported, citing official documents

The outlet further reported that Nabavi was eventually able to register as a psychological assistant in January 2006. However, in February 2006, that registration was revoked but stayed. It meant that the revocation would not go into effect unless Nabavi did not comply with specific probationary terms and conditions for five years, according to the California Board of Psychology.

After another denial in May 2005, Nabavi was finally able to register as a psychologist in December 2006 in compliance with the terms and conditions of his probation, Page Six reported.

Nabavi’s career


Nabavi served as the director of family services at the since-closed, celebrity-frequented rehab center Promises Malibu from June 2006 to May 2011. In 2013, he opened the halfway house Resolutions Living (RL) in Santa Monica, California, where the 27-year-old son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber died on Sunday. He is the founder and owner of RL as well as the founder and executive director of Resolutions Therapeutic Services (RTS).
