Tucson Electric Power (TEP) has recently reported a significant disruption, impacting the lives of more than 12,000 individuals. The outage was initially recorded at the stroke of midnight on Monday, July 17, leaving customers without electricity. The cause behind this unfortunate incident remains under investigation, as TEP diligently works towards resolving the issue. It is worth noting that similar instances usually take around two hours to rectify, and the TEP team is committed to restoring power to affected customers within this estimated timeframe.

The power outage has primarily affected Tucson's east side and the Foothills area, where over 10,000 residents are without electricity. The disruption can be attributed to a powerful storm that swept through Tucson in the late afternoon hours on Monday. The affected area spans from Fort Lowell and Swan North to East Skyline Drive in the Foothills. The concentrated outages are situated between Kolb and Camino Seco, encompassing the region from 22nd Street in the south to Speedway in the north, encompassing Tucson's east side.

Additionally, smaller outages have been reported in other parts of Tucson. These include locations east of Pantano and south of Golf Links, as well as Speedway and Craycroft. While these outages may impact fewer individuals, they remain significant for those affected.


The affected region stretches from Fort Lowell and Swan North to East Skyline Drive in the Foothills, concentrated between Kolb and Camino Seco, with boundaries from 22nd Street in the south to Speedway in the north. Smaller outages have also been reported east of Pantano and south of Golf Links, as well as at Speedway and Craycroft.
