Retired staffs and existing fraternity of the Vatican are now feeling the jolt of this fund crunch at the Catholic Church's supreme headquarters, which is even extending to a level where their livelihood now hangs in the balance.

New trouble for Pope Francis?

This unprecedented financial crisis has been in the talks for quite a while now, but it is now beginning to go out of hand, according to an Irish Star report. with many within the fraternity beginning to blame the leadership of Pope Francis, who became the 266th pope back in the year, 2013.

Bankruptcy: A major problem for the Vatican for a decade

As of 2023, the Vatican has been facing an operating deficit of $87 million, which is indeed a tough figure to recover from, and poor donation levels from across the world are making this fund crunch even worse, making the Vatican tough to operate. However, this is not the first time the Vatican's funds were at such a low. For starters, in 2012, the Vatican found itself knee-deep in trouble and ridden with dent, when the European recession hit them badly. Nearly 9 years later, bankruptcy again began catching up with them during the Covid-19 pandemic, that shook the entire world's economy for more than a year.
