Personal life:
Nelly Furtado was born in Canada to a Portuguese family in 1966. On September 20, 2003, she gave birth to her daughter Nevis with her boyfriend, Jasper. The couple separated in 2005 but remained co-parents to their daughter. In 2008, she married sound engineer Demacio. But they split up after nine years of a relationship. Being a single mother, Nelly stopped touring and kept away from the limelight.




At the peak of her career, Nelly took a complete break and moved away to focus on her family life after her last album, "The Spirit Indestructible,' was released.

Once in the interview, Nelly told the Loose Women panel: "It was too exciting. I was at the peak of my career. But it all started to take a toll on my physical and emotional health. Once, I cried on the stage, "As a mother, I need to be physically and emotionally strong for my daughter."

Nelly said in the Refinery 29 interview, "at the very young age of 25, I became a mother. So, I just quit juggling, not music, to simplify my life.

During her break from music, she took classes in playwriting and ceramics, worked in her daughter's school library, and helped at a friend's record store.
