The Paris Olympics 2024 is currently a major talking point across the globe, starting off with their grand opening ceremony, followed by the intense sporting action across a plethora of events. However, apart from the events, some major issues also took centerstage in recent times, including the fact around Olympic medals losing their glamor as reportedly getting 'discolored', as being claimed by Olympic medalists.

Olympic bronze medalist shares glimpse of discolored medal

An Olympic bronze medalist from Great Britain, Yasmin Harper, who is a diver at the Paris Olympics, has claimed that her medal has already started losing its shade, within just a week of being awarded. The athlete from Great Britain won this bronze medal in the women’s 3m synchronized springboard event held at the La Defense Arena in Paris, and has already started complaining about her medal's manufacturing quality.

However, Harper also mentioned that since it was still a bronze medal, and held a significance of its own, the part of getting discoloration hardly bothers her.

USA athletes throw in similar complaints

A member of the USA skateboard team, according to The Telegraph, echoed the same version of events like Britain's Harper, claiming that the bronze medal received by the skateboarding team, has shown signs of discoloration. The athlete from Team USA claimed that the bronze medal has chipped from the back and has slowly started losing its color.

Will Paris Olympics organizers replace the discolored medals?

It is still not known if the Paris Olympics organizers will indeed be replacing the discolored medals but they are expected to take notice of it in the case that formal requests are posed to them by the medalists themselves. However, a new medal will not have that same charm as the one that was awarded to the athletes right on the podium, as thousands cheered and waved for them.
