Poor quality Chinese products? World’s most powerful wind turbine with typhoon-proof blades break off in China
The so called most powerful turbine of the world which was reported and claimed to be typhoon proof as well has eventually broken. Recent reports are claiming that blades of the Wind Turbine are breaking and falling off in China.

According to Interesting Engineering, the huge wind turbine manufactured by Mingyang has a 20MW prototype and was installed on the date August 28 and was specifically designed to withstand high wind speeds which included typhoons. Though, however, recent reports are indicating that two of its 143 meter long blades broke off during operation earlier in the month of December.
The exact cause of the failure still remains pretty unclear but Mingyang eventually noted that the incident occurred under ‘extreme, abnormal conditions’.

In spite of this recent and sudden setback, the turbine previously demonstrated heavy resilience by surviving super typhoon named Yagi in the month of September without having any sort of issues while nearby wind farms were severely damaged, asserted Interesting Engineering.
The MySE18.X-20MW can generate up to a huge 80 million kWh annually while offsetting significant CO₂ emissions. Interesting Engineering also noted that Mingyang has also announced plans for an even larger model which is named the MySE 22MW and which will feature advanced carbon-fiber blades and a rotor diameter exceeding 310 meters.
