Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek’s unnoticed act of kindness, handed over pen used by Majchrzak to boy after snatching cap

Piotr Szczerek, a Polish CEO, faced backlash for allegedly snatching a cap from a young fan, reminiscent of the Andy Byron scandal. While criticized online, some defended Szczerek, noting he gifted the fan a pen. Tennis star Kamil Majchrzak sugges...

Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek’s cap ‘snatching’ incident from a young fan was probably the most controversial news break after Astronomer CEO Andy Byron’s kiss cam scandal. Like the kiss cam incident, the Polish CEO has also been severely criticized as a ‘thief’ and a ‘cheat’ on social media. However, some of them are also finding kindness in the video.

Although users on social media are mostly on his opposite side, some individuals have pointed an act of kindness, which somehow got suppressed in this tsunami of uproar. In the viral video, if you look closely, ‘he was kind enough to give him the pen used to sign it,’ one user commented.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">everyone is giving this guy grief for snatching the hat from a kid but if you watch the whole video he was kind enough to give him the pen used to sign it /s <a href="https://t.co/nmzpIBwLo9">https://t.co/nmzpIBwLo9</a></p>&mdash; Michael88 (@abracadabrist) <a href="https://twitter.com/abracadabrist/status/1962386196153377159?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 1, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Later, in a ‘reported’ viral statement, as on the Gowork platform, as per a TOI report, he was seen not to be backing down on what he did, rather threatened to take legal action against those who insult him, ‘insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability, the statement read.

Did the cap snatching incident happen in the heat of the moment?

Kamil Majchrzak also gave an indication that it might not be as selfish as it seems, as the CEO did it in the heat of the moment. "I don’t want to say something wrong, because I know how viral it went. But what I think is he was also acting in the moment of emotions, in the heat of the moment, and probably when he realised what happened, it was already too late,’ Kamil said.

Another user also defended the viral CEO, suggesting it was less attention, “he didn't TAKE it from a kid. The athlete wasn't paying attention and didn't make sure the kid got it.”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">one again humans being fucking retards. He didn&#39;t TAKE it from a kid. The athlete wasn&#39;t paying attention and didn&#39;t make sure the kid got it. Now let&#39;s dive deeper... HOW IS IT NOT A MENTAL ILLNESS TO COLLECT OTHER PEOPLES SHIT? especially shit that&#39;s been sweated in. <a href="https://t.co/sDbWF6KLC4">https://t.co/sDbWF6KLC4</a></p>&mdash; Ex (@WeAreExistence) <a href="https://twitter.com/WeAreExistence/status/1962387843810283619?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 1, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Kamil Majchrzak's heartwarming gesture

In the meantime, the Polish tennis star, who later exited at the US Open due to an injury, was praised for his gesture after meeting the boy.

Majchrzak shared two clips on his official Instagram account in which he shook hands with two boys and presented them with gifts - including a cap similar to one handed to the boy and then swiftly taken off him in the clip.

"Today after warm up, I had a nice meeting," he wrote, adding: "Do you recognise [the cap]?"
