Authorities stated a 37-year-old woman was shot by a police officer on Monday after she started firing at the airport's ticket counter area.

Authorities stated a 37-year-old woman had to be shot by a police officer on Monday after she started firing several rounds at the airport's ticket counter area. The Police Department stated that the woman in question was dropped off at the airport at approximately 11 AM. She had changed her clothes in a washroom and then started shooting.
A Dallas police officer shot back at her and struck her in the lower extremities. She was then arrested and taken to a nearby hospital.
Why did the woman open fire?
The woman has been identified as Portia Odufuwa. In April 2021, Odufuwa was accused of erroneously reporting a fire in Dallas County. Court records indicate that a judge ruled she was incompetent to stand trial and unable to consult her lawyer.
As part of the judge's order, Odufuwa was ordered to receive "psychosocial counseling" and live in a health care facility arranged by the state.
