Police officer shot fatally by a gun-wielding man in Detroit
Besides the slain police officer, the suspect was also shot dead in the firing by the police team.

According to James White, Detroit police Chief, the officer and his partner received a call on Wednesday at around 7:30 pm Wednesday with information of a man firing a weapon. He stated that when the officers reached the spot, they had a face off with the suspect, who carried an assault-style weapon. Sighting the police personnel in front, the killer open fired at them. In this, one officer was struck, while his team member returned fire at the suspect killing him on the spot. The injured police officer was rushed for medical help, however was pronounced dead on reaching the hospital.
Detroit police Chief James White was deeply hurt by the firing incident which costed the life of an officer from his department. He said with great distress that he had to inform the department and the community that they have lost one of our heroes. He termed it as a very depressing and tragic mishap, James White was talking to the reporters outside the hospital.
White informed that the slain officer was not identified at first instance, however was a five-year veteran in the department. The officer’s father lately retired from the department. He further stated that after hearing the news, the officers in the department are heartbroken.
No more details related to the killers identity and his intent for killing were made available, however the investigation is still in process.
