Pokemon winds and waves: The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the next mainline entries in the beloved franchise: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. Confirmed during a 30th anniversary Pokémon Presents launch on Pokémon Day, the games are scheduled to debut in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokemon winds and waves: Journey Across a New World

According to the Pokémon account on X, in Wind and Waves, “you’ll travel across beautiful windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves that ebb and flow. You’ll also team up with Pokémon to overcome challenges and even the forces of nature!” The games will support 11 languages, which includes Brazilian Portuguese, extending accessibility for fans globally.

Meet the New Starter Pokémon

The first trailer for Winds and Waves introduced the three new starter Pokémon:

  • Browt, the Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon
  • Pombon, the Fire-type Puppy Pokémon
  • Gecqua, the Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon
Players will pick one starter at the starting of their journey, with the main character sporting a varied outfit as per the game version they choose. The trailer also featured familiar faces such as Pikachu, now dressed in beach-themed outfits, and Oddish, along with glimpses of other water Pokémon in the fresh region’s oceans.

Expansive New Region and Open World

Set in a visually striking open world, Winds and Waves feature lush environments that include windswept islands, jungles, and expansive oceans. The Pokémon in this area have adapted to their surroundings, making a unique ecosystem that players can delve into. Teaming up with Pokémon will be crucial not only to navigate obstacles but also to confront the forces of nature that may block the way.
