Dr. Arian Mowlavi, known as Dr. Laguna, demanded his patients get completely naked for a test and touched their bodies without permission. Know the incidents in detail.

A doctor who is famous on Instagram has been accused of using the wrong surgical procedures leading to infections in California. Now he is facing multiple malpractice lawsuits. The Los Angeles Times has reported that Dr. Arian Mowlavi, known as Dr. Laguna, demanded his patients get completely naked for a test and touched their bodies without permission. He asked unlicensed technicians to perform some of the tests.

Posted pictures without consent

The plastic surgeon, who has 80,000 social media followers, also posted pictures and videos of their bodies online without their consent. Dr. Robert Kachenmeister, a California-based doctor who treated some of Mowlavi’s patients post-surgeries, said, "Dr. Mowlavi is a danger to the community and his plastic surgery patients."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Mowlavi would brag about his craft in numerous videos posted on social media. In a video clip, he said,"We’re making some beautiful butts, so come with me." He showed an unconscious patient face down on the operating table with her butt out in the open. He cheerfully said, "This butt has volume, pop. This what we’re talking about guys.”

Mowlavi denies charges

But Mowlavi is nonchalant and he has denied allegations of wrongdoing, arguing in court filings that patients were aware of and assumed the risks from the surgeries.

Mowlavi sued

The Los Angeles Times has reported that a patient died in 2018 days after undergoing surgery for liposuction, breast implants and other work. Her family sued the doctor in 2019 and Mowlavi reached a $1 million settlement with her family.

More than 20 patients reportedly sued Mowlavi in December 2021 after the doctor put photos of them online without their consent. One patient complained she was even insulted during the video he posted.
