‘Plankton: The Movie’: Check out when will SpongeBob SquarePants-franchise film release

SpongeBob SquarePants is an emotion for the 90s teens and makers of this epic franchise wish to ensure that the hype around this popular animated content does not wane away. Thus, Netflix has come up with a new plan to work on two SpongeBob franchise spinoffs that will be receiving a release on its platform. One of the new titles will see Plankton, the antagonist of the franchise, will have the central role.

Plankton: The Movie

During the recent Next on Netflix: Animation event that was held on June 6 this year, the platform announced that 'Plankton: The Movie' has received the green light and will be coming to Netflix next year. Plankton has always been a very key character in the SpongeBob franchise and its own journey across the film will be definitely a treat to watch. Although, it will not be a solo ride for the character as other SpongeBob key characters may also appear alongside.

The Sandy Cheeks

Meanwhile, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks, which is another SpongeBob franchise film, will be dropping in on Netflix on August 2 this year. According to Netflix, Sandy Cheeks was introduced in the franchise around 25 years ago and after a long wait the character is getting a solo of her own. Yet again Texas needs to be saved from a villainous plot, and the leads alongside Cheeks will rally to the town in order to save it from the hatched conspiracy.


This is yet another spinoff that will be appearing on Netflix exclusively this August and for the first time SpongeBob will not be at the focus of the entire storyline.
