Philippines earthquake triggers tsunami warning in 6 countries, U.S. tsunami alert system issues latest updates
Earthquake alert: Japanese authorities issued a tsunami advisory on Monday along swathes of its Pacific coast after a major earthquake off the Philippines.

Earthquake of magnitude 8.2 struck Mindanao in the Philippines on Monday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), GFZ said. The offshore quake hit at a depth of 35 kilometres (22 miles) off the island of Mindanao, USGS said.
GFZ earlier pegged the earthquake at 7.3. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami threat to the earthquake.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a notice that tsunami waves were possible "within the next three hours" along the coasts of the Philippines, Indonesia, Palau, Taiwan and Papua New Guinea.
Japanese authorities issued a tsunami advisory on Monday along swathes of its Pacific coast after a major earthquake off the Philippines. The Japan Meteorological Agency said that tsunamis of up to one metre (three feet) were projected to hit different regions from 11:30 am (0230 GMT).
U.S. tsunami warning system stated no tsunami warning, advisory, watch, or threat to the country's shores.
