Peter Drury to takeover as Sky Sports football commentator after Martin Tyler’s departure; Details here

Peter Drury has won an award for Football Supporters’ Association commentator of the year for three out of the past four seasons. He is also the winner of Sports Journalists’ Association sports commentator of the year award in 2020.

It was confirmed on Sunday that Peter Drury is set to take over as Sky Sports football commentator and will cover the Premier League after Martin Tyler’s departure was announced by the organization. Tyler was Sky Sports’ lead commentator since 1992. However, he decided to leave the company after 33 years.

Meanwhile, 55-year-old Peter Drury has previously worked with BBC, ITV and BT Sport along with Premier League Productions. He revealed that he was “massively excited” about taking up his role at Sky Sports. In a statement, Drury said that working on the “best games week in week out with a broadcaster that has told the Premier League story since the very beginning feels like the opportunity of my career and I can’t wait to get started”.
