Peruvian police go undercover as Santa Claus for drug bust, arrests two

A Peruvian police squad, with an agent donned as Santa Claus, successfully executed a drug bust near Lima, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in the sale of illicit substances.

The undercover operation, captured in a video released by the police department, showcases Santa Claus himself breaking down a door with a sledgehammer in Huaral, located 70 kilometers north of Lima. The festive disguise was a strategic move to blend into the area unnoticed.



Colonel Walter Palomino, the head of the National Police Green Squadron, explained, "They disguised themselves as Santa Claus to go unnoticed in this dangerous neighborhood. The strategy was successful. Christmas came to the Evil Reindeer."

The police operation resulted in the arrest of two men. They also confiscated numerous packets of cocaine paste and marijuana. However, the exact quantity and value of the seized drugs are yet to be disclosed by the police.

This unconventional approach to law enforcement is not entirely new in Peru. Last year, police in Lima, dressed as Santa and his elves, conducted a similar operation before Christmas, leading to the arrest of four suspects and the confiscation of 6,000 packets of cocaine paste.

In a previous Halloween operation on October 31, Peruvian police creatively utilized horror character costumes to apprehend two alleged members of a drug gang.
