Senator John Fetterman, 56, the Democratic Senator from Pennsylvania, was hospitalized on November 13, 2025, following a fall during an early morning walk near his home in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

His office confirmed that the fall was triggered by a ventricular fibrillation flare-up, a heart rhythm disorder that caused him to feel light-headed and subsequently collapse, hitting his face with minor injuries. The Senator opted to remain in the hospital under routine observation, where doctors are fine-tuning his medication regimen to stabilize his condition.

"If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!" Fetterman said, according to ABC News.

Ventricular fibrillation is a serious cardiac event characterized by erratic and ineffective heartbeats that disrupt normal blood flow, leading to symptoms such as dizziness or fainting.

Fetterman’s office reassured the public that his injuries were minor and that he was doing well, but he was admitted as a precautionary measure to ensure his health was closely monitored.

This hospitalization marks another health challenge for Senator Fetterman, who has openly discussed his past health issues, including a stroke he suffered in 2022. Despite these challenges, he remains active in his Senate duties.

Senator Fetterman’s team issued a statement emphasizing the importance of monitoring and adjusting his treatments to prevent future events, and they thanked the medical staff for their care. They also requested privacy and understanding for the Senator and his family during this time.

While the fall was concerning, the swift medical response and hospitalization have allowed for effective management of Senator Fetterman’s ventricular fibrillation flare-up. His medical team continues to observe and adjust his care plan to ensure his ongoing health and safety.
