Penn Badgley, the actor who played the role of serial killer Joe Goldberg in hit Netflix thriller You, recently shared his feelings on bidding adieu to the character. The fifth and final instalment of the series was released on Netflix on Thursday (April 24). Badgley also spoke about the physical and emotional toll that the part of a psychopath brings along for an actor. He also revealed why he is unlikely to play a psychotic killer in the foreseeable future.

He said he would surely miss the "athleticism" of the character, explaining that the killer is a "highly physical character to play". Further expressing his opinion about the lead character, Badgley said that Joe "often" is in a raging mood or trying to conceal the truth whenever he is shown "talking a lot".

He also asserted that the role is quite rewarding for an actor due to all the physical efforts tied to it. Asked about the ability that allows Joe to appear as a "nice guy", Badgley said that his character is an “embodiment of all of our misconceptions” about emotions such as love, unlike an actual serial killer.
