Marvel Studios is considering to cast Pedro Pascal as Reed Ricards, a.k.a Mr.Fantastic in "Fantastic Four," which will introduce the legendary superhero team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

In the storyline, Mr. Fantastic is a brilliant scientist who acquires the ability to stretch and bend his body like rubber after being exposed to gamma rays during a scientific expedition to outer space.

Pascal's inclusion in the film would further contribute to his impressive list of iconic characters. His career got a much-needed fillipafter he portrayed Prince Oberyn Martell in "Game of Thrones" and reached new heights with "The Mandalorian," where played the role of the titular bounty hunter. The 48-year-old actor has recently earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the ongoing HBO series "The Last of Us."


Directed by Matt Shakman, "Fantastic Four" is set to open on May 2, 2025. Shakman took over the directorial duties from Jon Watts, who directed Marvel and Sony's "Spider-Man" trilogy. The film marks Marvel Studios' venture into the Fantastic Four storyline after gaining the rights in 2019 through Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

Before Marvel Studios took control, the Fantastic Four characters appeared in three films: the 2005 original "Fantastic Four," its 2007 sequel "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," and a 2015 reboot that received mixed reviews.

The original cast included Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans. The 2015 reboot featured Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan, who later played a significant role in the MCU's "Black Panther" films. Notably, in 1994, a low-budget "Fantastic Four" movie was produced by Roger Corman and Constantin Film to retain the rights to the property, though it was never theatrically released.

Fans of the Fantastic Four got an early tease in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a glimpse of Reed Richards in the form of a cameo by John Krasinski in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness." Krasinski appeared briefly as an alternate universe version of Reed Richards, meeting an unfortunate end at the hands of the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

While the casting for Susan Storm has not been officially announced, the roles of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, remain undisclosed as well, adding an element of anticipation for fans eagerly awaiting the full ensemble of the iconic superhero team in the MCU.
