PayPal and Venmo outage: Thousands of people across major U.S. cities are struggling to access their PayPal and Venmo accounts. Reports surged Thursday as users reported that they couldn’t log in or complete transactions. The payment giants are facing widespread disruption, according to outage tracker DownDetector.

Are PayPal and Venmo down today?

Thousands of users across major U.S. cities have reported being unable to access PayPal and Venmo. Both platforms saw a surge in outage reports over the past 24 hours, according to DownDetector.


DownDetector data shows a sharp rise in PayPal and Venmo issue reports nationwide. For PayPal, roughly 85% of the reported problems involve log-in failures, leaving users unable to access accounts or complete transactions.

Many consumers say they receive the message “unable to complete request” when trying to log in, preventing access to their funds. The outage appears to be ongoing as reports continue to increase, as per a report by The Express.

On the Downdetector page there, people also shared their concerns. “Not working error message !!,” a person said. “It’s been completely offline for 20 mins," another remarked.

Consumers expressed dissatisfaction over their inability to log in and view their balance. They also expressed dissatisfaction over the inability to withdraw funds from their accounts due to reported ouatge.

According to Downdetector, as of 9:09 a.m. PT, over 20,000 users had reported issues with PayPal, and an additional 20,000 users had reported issues with Venmo.
