Pawan Kalyan’s ‘They Call Him OG’ not to be released by York Cinemas, but you can watch the new Telugu movie in these North America theaters; check full list

‘They Call Him OG,’ Pawan Kalyan’s new movie, is set to breach records in theaters across the United States and is poised to become the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year, as it can surpass the $3 million mark in terms of collection. Telugu films have garnered popularity in parts of America, especially in North America, as the language is the 11th most-spoken foreign language in the US and the third most-spoken Indian language, according to a report from the Statistical Atlas of the US, based on US Census Bureau data.

Before ‘They Call Him OG,’ a plethora of Telugu films have enjoyed success in America, including RRR, the Pushpa franchise, Kalki 2898 AD, Devara: Part 1, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, and Mirai, among many others.

Amid the expectations of minting record collections, Pawan Kalyan’s latest release is facing distribution issues in North America, with York Cinemas canceling upcoming shows of the film, citing public safety and security concerns.


“We regret to inform you that York Cinemas has made the difficult decision to cancel all upcoming exhibitions of the film “They call him OG”. York Cinemas has become increasingly concerned that various cultural and political forces associated with the distribution of the film in North America could pose a potential risk to public safety and security. We sincerely apologize to our patrons for any inconvenience this may cause. Any patrons who have purchased tickets in advance will be refunded in full. The safety of our patrons, employees and the public remains our top priority,” the Multiplex cinema chain said in its latest release.

In separate press releases, York Cinemas has also confirmed that it will no longer exhibit any South Asian films distributed by Prathyangira Cinemas.

In Chicago the movie will be released in AMC multiplex chain in River East 21. As far as Chicago Heights is concerned, the film will be exhibited in Marcus in Marcus Chicago Heights Cinema.
