Pavelski, a recently retired NHL player, held the solo lead after Friday’s opening round. Reflecting on his performance, he acknowledged the importance of his strong finish to remain tied at the top. “It was kind of you’re looking up, not really happy with your game and the points you’re putting up, trying to find a way to get this into the 40s and stay connected,” Pavelski said. “Obviously, Twellman has been playing great. To finish birdie, birdie, birdie and be tied with him, I’ll take that all day.”

Top 10 leaderboard features notable sports and entertainment figures

Taylor Twellman, a former USa soccer star, credited his strong round to positive energy within his group, which included Adam Thielen and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Alex Caruso. “I think the energy in our group was good,” Twellman said. “Alex, Adam and I were kind of feeding off each other. We were talkative. It felt like a normal round of golf on a weekend for us.” Twellman’s round featured four birdies in a six-hole stretch to pull even with Pavelski at the top of the leaderboard.
