What racing meant for Paul Newman ?
Newman always dreamt of being a great athlete but never found a sport where he could leave his mark. Racing, however, turned everything for the Oscar-winning actor.
While speaking to The Associated Press, Newman had once said that he "feels competent and in charge" when he is behind the wheel and that this is "something I enjoy."
In the Can-Am Series, Paul became a car owner and campaigned cars for many top winners in the Indianapolis 500 and Keke Rosberg, Formula one champion. Paul even formed his team and won eight series championships and 107 races.
According to Satterwhite's explanations, Paul Newman's so much passion for racing was because it's the skill he learned and could do without anybody's interference, unlike being on a movie set where "You're just one of the guys."
