After originally suffering an ankle injury in the divisional round playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has comforted Kansas City Chiefs supporters about the issue. It bothered him throughout the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 27-year-old quarterback's injury raised fears among Chiefs supporters that it would prevent him from performing at his best when the Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday's Super Bowl.

Mahomes said on Monday that he will "push it" and "put it all on the line" come Super Bowl LVII. He now expects to win his second Super Bowl in four years.

In January 2021, when the Chiefs last played in the Super Bowl, Mahomes was similarly limited by an ailment, that time it was a turf toe. The 2020 Kansas City Chiefs season ended with a 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mahomes recalled a happier occasion when the Chiefs overcame a 20-10 fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy the season before. The victory is great, he remarked. One of the highlights of your whole life has occurred. You eliminate all the advantages from it.

Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles, will participate in his first Super Bowl contest in just his third season of professional football.
