Parkinson's disease: Blood test may predict disease well before symptoms
AI blood test may help detect Parkinson's disease years before the appearance of any kind of symptoms.

A groundbreaking diagnostic tool has been developed by a team of researchers from University College London and the University Medical Center Goettingen in Germany, leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence to achieve unprecedented accuracy and efficiency in medical testing.
Published in the journal Nature Communications, the study examined 72 patients diagnosed with idiopathic rapid eye movement behavior disorder (iRBD), a condition known to increase the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease, Fox reported.
By applying machine learning techniques to analyze blood samples from the patients, the researchers found that 79 per cent of the participants exhibited the same biomarkers commonly found in individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
During a decade-long follow-up period, the researchers observed that 16 of the patients eventually developed Parkinson’s disease, a neurodegenerative movement disorder that impacts nearly one million individuals in the United States.
