Oklahoma City Thunder is just one win away from claiming the NBA championship, while the Indiana Pacers remain uncertain about the availability of star guard Tyrese Haliburton for Thursday night’s crucial Game 6.

The Thunder seized control of the NBA Finals with a 120-109 victory in Game 5 on Monday, taking a 3-2 series lead. Jalen Williams led the charge with 40 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 in a dominant performance.

“We have to prepare for two scenarios - one where he plays and one where he does not,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle on injured Haliburton.


Game 6 shifts to Indianapolis on Thursday. If the Pacers force a deciding game, the championship showdown will return to Oklahoma City for Game 7 on Sunday.

The win in Game 5 of the NBA Finals was Oklahoma City’s 83rd of the season (68 regular season, 15 playoffs). The Pacers have covered in 13 of their first 21 games of these playoffs. The Thunder - favored in every game so far - have covered 10 out of 21 times to this point.

This is the first time since 2022 that both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final went at least six games.

Thunder’s Game 5 victory in the NBA Finals marked their 83rd win of the season - 68 in the regular season and 15 in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Pacers have covered the spread in 13 of their 21 playoff games so far.

The Thunder, who have been favored in every game of the Finals, have managed to cover in only 10 of their 21 postseason matchups.

This year also marks the first time since 2022 that both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final have extended to at least six games, adding extra drama to the summer championship season.
