‘Overwatch 2’ Season 2: Patch brings several upgrades to game

The second season of Overwatch 2 was released on Tuesday, December 6, and as expected, it brings major changes to improve the already phenomenal video game. The second season has opened the new Shambali Monastery map called Ramattra, along with a major nerf to Sojourn. The new changes are expected to make Sojourn more balanced, allowing players to get the most out of her.

Other characters to get updated include Doomfist, Junker Queen, Bastion, Symmetra, Tracer, Mercy, Ana and Kiriko. The first two received significant changes, while the rest got a few tweaks. Another important update is to the handling of overtime on Control maps, which now prevents sudden ends after teams with 99% progress switch the point in their favour.

Furthermore, the second season launch fixes several bugs and adds new challenges to unlock key characters. Bugs in the Tracer’s damage falloff have also been fixed. Likewise, the shop section now gets a “hero purchase” tab. The reload speed bonus was increased to 35%, but there won’t be movement speed bonuses.


Commenting on the second season launch, Overwatch 2 developers said there were several changes for Doomfist to increase the tank’s presence as a disruptive brawler and help him stay in the fight longer. Likewise, the developers also pointed out the changes made to Power Block and Meteor Strike that are likely to improve the ability of Empowered Rocket Punch.



However, to curb frustration while fighting against it, the Empowered Rocket Punch will now have lesser stun time and size. Moreover, the developers have shifted the damage of Rocket Punch away from needing wall impacts to make it more useful.
The developers also admitted that though Sojourn was performing great on the highest competition tiers, it struggled on the lower tiers. They said the long-range, charged headshots from Sojourn’s Railgun frustrated the players, which is why they reduced the critical headshots multiplier.
