Overwatch 2 Season 15: See release date, time, perks system and loot boxes

Overwatch 2 Season 15 will launch on February 18, 2025. This marks the end of Season 14. The update will go live at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST / 6 PM GMT. The timing follows the pattern of previous seasonal updates.

Perks System

A new Perks system is being introduced. Players who perform well will gain permanent buffs for their hero. The buffs will follow a branching system, where players must choose between two options.

For example, Ana can either land critical hits with headshots or enhance her Nano Boost to apply buffs to herself. Each hero will have different minor and major perks. These perks will be available in Quick Play and Competitive modes starting in Season 15.

A separate Stadium mode will be added later in Season 16. In this mode, players can purchase Perks using in-game currency earned from performance.

Loot Boxes

Loot Boxes are coming back. Previously, they were a controversial feature, but they will now be earned through gameplay. Players can unlock Legendary skins from these boxes. This gives free-to-play users an opportunity to obtain premium skins by playing regularly.

Lunar New Year Skins

Season 15 coincides with Overwatch 2’s return to China. The game was unavailable in the country due to publisher disagreements. Blizzard and NetEase have now reached an agreement, allowing the game to be restored in the region.

Outside China, all players will receive new Lunar New Year cosmetics. It is not yet confirmed which heroes will get featured skins. Additionally, new playable content will be part of the event.
