Oscars 2025: Anora star Mikey Madison to do this post-ceremony that will bring her 'right down to Earth'

Anora star Mikey Madison emerged as a surprise winner at the Oscars 2025, bagging the Best Actress in a Leading Role honour for her role in the romantic drama film on Sunday. Madison said she does not know what will happen in the future and only wants to work with people who inspire her.

Directed by Sean Baker, Anora won in five categories at the 97th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Speaking at the Academy Awards press room post her victory, Madison stated that she is yet to process the award's potential impact on her career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.


“I’ve been thinking about the future a lot, and also the past,” Madison said, when questioned how her win at the Oscars 2025 could influence her path.

Madison said that post her Best Actress win, she has been trying to remind herself to "stay as present as possible throughout all of this, so I don’t know."

She went on to say that she does not know "what will happen in the future," adding that she only wants to keep making films.

Madison stated that she will continue working with inspiring people and looks forward to playing interesting characters, besides telling stories that are compelling.

Once back home, she said she will spend time with her "new puppies and probably clean up their mess". She added that this will bring her "right down to Earth.”

Who is Mikey Madison?

Born in Los Angeles, Madison's parents are psychologists. She is one of the five children and was raised in the San Fernando Valley.

In an earlier interview with The Cut, Madison stated that she was homeschooled post the seventh grade, which left her with enough time to pursue horse riding.

She has previously appeared in films like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Liza, Liza, Skies Are Grey and Scream.

Anora wins big at Oscars 2025

Released in October last year, Anora received five honours at the 97th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay as well as Best Film Editing.

The film revolves around the life of young sex worker Ani (Madison), who is impulsively married to the son of a Russian businessman, essayed by Mark Eydelshteyn.

Besides them, the film also features Yura Borisov, Vache Tovmasyan, Karren Karagulian and Aleksei Serebryakov among others.

Upon receiving the award, the Better Things alum said that she will continue to support the sex worker community and be an ally.

She stated that the "incredible" women she met have been a highlight of her experience in the film.
