Jane Fonda, an Oscar-winning actor and former fitness guru, revealed on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer. She currently is undergoing chemotherapy.

The Oscar-winning actor, activist and former fitness guru, Jane Fonda announced on Friday in an Instagram post that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is right now undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

She in a quite lengthy post said that she has been diagnosed with a condition named non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and has also commenced chemo treatment. She said that this malignancy is fairly curable. She considers herself incredibly lucky because 80% of people survive. This percentage is quite encouraging.

She is fortunate to have health insurance and also the access to the best medical specialists, professionals and therapies. She is aware of her privilege in this, and she said that it still hurts. She is aware of the fact that almost every American family has faced cancer at some or the other point, and far too many are deprived of access to the high-quality medical treatment, which she has access to. She feels that this is wrong.


She will have chemotherapy for six months, and according to Fonda, she is taking the treatments fairly well.

At 80 years, Jane Fonda says she's still reinventing herself and feels better than ever.

Non-lymphoma Hodgkin's is a type of cancer that typically develops in the lymph nodes and lymphatic tissues, which are a portion of the immune system, and begins in white blood cells. The total 5-year survival rate for persons with NHL is 73%, claims the American Cancer Society.

The Hollywood legend has spent a significant portion of her career to advocacy. At the age of 84, Fonda told her fans that she is determined to fight against climate change despite being ill.

Fonda said that we are in the midst of most important period in human history. She added, that she will not let cancer to keep her from doing all that she can. She believes that what we as humans do or don't do now will decide what type of future there will be.

Throughout her life, Fonda has dealt with a number of health problems. The Grace and Frankie actor said in an interview that she had a lot of health issues, adding that she frequently visits dermatologists for removal operations.
