A two-time Oscar winner, Emma Thompson, admitted that she was 'utterly blind' to her ex-husband Kenneth Branagh's relationships with other actresses on the set and was heartbroken when she learned about them.
Emma wed Kenneth in 1989 after dating him for two years. However, the six-year marriage was ruined by Kenneth's romance with Helena Bonham Carter. Helena, it is said, had an affair with Kenneth in 1994; she played his love interest in the 1994 film 'Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein', They remained together for five years after that.
Speaking to the New Yorker, Emma confessed that she was heartbroken by Kenneth's dishonesty and felt 'humiliated' and 'unlovable' as a result of the affair. 'I was utterly blind that he had relationships with other women on set,' she stated.
Since the affair, the two have collaborated on the Harry Potter films, with Helena portraying Bellatrix Lestrange and Emma as Professor Trelawney. Emma previously said that she had 'forgiven' Helena for a very long time and used her sentiments of betrayal to inspire her role as a mistreated wife in the popular movie 'Love Actually.'
