Oscar nominee and 'The Godfather' actor James Caan died from a heart attack

James Caan, known for his role as "Jimmy" in the legendary film The Godfather, passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 82 on July 6 at the Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

His doctor informed the reason for the actor's heart failure was myocardial infarction from coronary artery disease. The hospital document reveals it is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure. James Caan's last resting place is at the Eden Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.



The actor was an eminent personality and has been nominated for 4 Golden Globe awards, 1 Oscar, and 1 Emmy; however, he never won any but had a huge fan following. He was also a Karate exponent and had been given a rank of 6 Dan. In his personal life, the actor married four times and fathered five children.

Al Pacino, his cinematic brother and teammate in the film "The Godfather", had only kind words to say about James Caan. He mentioned that James was his "fictional brother" and lifelong friend whom he greatly loves and that he will certainly miss him a lot.

The director of "The Godfather", Francis Ford Coppola, too, had warm words for the late actor and director and praised his role in his film " The Godfather ".

Another famous work where he was highly acclaimed for his craft was the telefilm Brian's Song, for which he was nominated for an Emmy. He also acted in the Gambler, Funny Lady, a musical, and many other movies. He used to introduce himself as the only Jewish Cowboy who participated in the Rodeo.
