ONI: Thunder God’s Tale to stream on Netflix. Here’s the details

In November 2019, ONI: Thunder God’s Tale was announced for the first time, and since then, it has been in the making for longer than expected. Cartoon Brew was the first to announce this series’ production before Netflix eventually picked it up. During the series’ announcement, it was said that the title is pitched at kids and families and mixes stop motion and CGI.

Daisuke "Dice" Tsutsumi, who has previously helmed Ice Age and Toy Story 3, is working on this series as the showrunner. He is the co-founder of Tonko House with Robert Kondo, who started Tonko House in 2014. Robert Kondo and Kane Lee are the executive producers. Sara K. Sampson and Megan Bartel are the producers.

Netflix is yet to announce the release date of ONI: Thunder God’s Tale. In May this year, Netflix confirmed that ONI: Thunder God’s Tale would be released in the present year, but no confirmation was given on a precise release date. Although there's been much speculation that ONI: Thunder God’s Tale will be available on Netflix starting October this year, there’s no official confirmation yet. As per the speculations, this series will be available for streaming from October 21, but Netflix is yet to confirm it. The dates are subject to change.




ONI: Thunder God’s Tale is a limited series of four episodes. The story can be based on a world full of oddball gods and monsters. According to Japanese mythology, the daughter of a free-spirited creature named Onari is committed to following the footsteps of lore’s mightiest heroes. She has an extraordinary power that she’s unaware of. When Oni, who threatens gods, also poses a threat to Onaris’ peace-loving village, she barges in to save her village from the mysterious Oni. Japanese mythology combines with contemporary times to show how a Japanese God raises a human child with special powers.

In the UK, the series is appropriate for kids aged twelve and above. While in the US, the series has a rating of TV-Y7.
