One killed, 2 others critical after shooting inside Las Vegas hotel

At least one person was killed and two others were injured after a shooting at a hotel in Las Vegas. The hotel was placed on lockdown after the incident.

The incident took place on Thursday inside a guest room in "The Mirage" hotel. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced tweeted that at least one person was killed while the investigation into the incident is ongoing.


The Police Department informed that while they are investigating the shooting incident in the room of The Mirage, people are requested to avoid the area. They were conducting an active investigation and would provide further information as soon as it's available.

The police also confirmed that on Friday night, at about 1 a.m., a total of three persons were shot and one of them was pronounced dead. As per the tweet from the police, it has been revealed that the victims and the suspect were known to each other.

Meanwhile, Eileen De La Cruz, a guest at The Mirage, confirmed that she noticed the security running inside the casino at around 8 p.m. that day. When they tried to walk out of the casino, the security didn’t allow them to. They couldn't find any information about what was going on in the hotel. Moreover, the guest also added that there was no announcement from the hotel authorities asking them to stay in their room. She noticed a stretcher being brought into the hotel, but couldn’t see anyone departing on it.

Still, it has not been clear whether the lockdown on the hotel has been lifted or not.

After the hotel room shooting, several videos were posted on Twitter, showing a group of uniformed officers moving through the hotel premises. Several photos and videos from the scene also showed how crowds of people were being seized near one of the entrances of the hotel.

No representative from The Mirage was available to respond to a request for comment from the media
